EBRO pickup, intended for the professional and industrial sector, was shown for the first time at the Automobile Barcelona show in an event that served to relaunch the brand after its demise in 1987.
It will go into series production at the D-Hub factory in Zona Franca (Barcelona) in the fourth quarter of 2024.
"It is a historic moment for us and for the automotive sector in Spain and Catalonia. We have an exciting project that will generate jobs to produce electric industrial vehicles that contribute to sustainable mobility also in the professional sector," says Pedro Calef, CEO of EBRO.
Automobile Barcelona has witnessed the resurgence of EBRO. The legendary brand of industrial and agricultural vehicles, which will soon celebrate the 70th anniversary of its founding (1954), was presented to the public for the first time after its disappearance in 1987, on the opening day of the Barcelona event.
The start of the brand's activity was also accompanied by the announcement of the production of a 100% electric pick-up, scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024. It will be the first vehicle to be mass-produced by EBRO at the D-Hub factory in Zona Franca (Barcelona) and is a first in the European automotive sector.
As a result of this project, EBRO will directly incorporate 150 people into its workforce, mainly in the commercial and marketing areas, in the coming years. It will also contribute indirectly to the hiring - in part - of around 1,200 employees from the reindustrialization pool of the former Zona Franca plant.
"This is a historic moment for us and for the automotive sector in Spain and Catalonia. EBRO marked an era in our country and contributed to the industrialization of one of the productive hearts of the sector. Precisely now, after this heart that was for so many decades the Zona Franca of Barcelona came to a halt, initiatives like ours are allowing it to recover its pulse. We have an exciting project that will generate jobs to produce electric industrial vehicles that contribute to sustainable mobility also in the professional sector", explains Pedro Calef, CEO of EBRO.
100% Electric Pickup
During the presentation, the EBRO Pick-Up prototype was unveiled for the first time in the world. It is the brand's first 100% electric series production vehicle and will initially be aimed at the professional and industrial sectors.
The EBRO Pick-Up can be driven in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive by two electric motors developing 220 kW (299 hp), powered by a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery, with a range of up to 440 km (440 miles).
Its dimensions (5,218 mm high, by 1,848 mm wide, and 1,785 mm high) allow it to offer ample interior space to accommodate five people, as well as a practical loading platform that meets the needs of work in both the countryside and in the city.

EBRO SxS Dakar
At the brand's stand, located in Hall 8 of the Montjuïc exhibition center, which will be open to the public from May 13 to 21, visitors will also be able to see the EBRO SxS light off-road vehicle that served as "car 0" opening the route of the Dakar Rally 2022. Its participation was a first in the history of the toughest rally in the world and a major milestone for EBRO in the first steps of its re-foundation.
This competition side-by-side has a power output of 150 kW (201 hp) and 390 Nm of maximum torque, with a range of 200 km (124 miles).
